Character
Chaos Cards

The Idea

Character Chaos is a growing collection of colourful greeting cards featuring odd little characters, playful one-liners and the occasional bit of mischief.

I wanted to create cards that felt joyful, irreverent and fun to gift, because sometimes a strangely specific alien or a rabbit being called cute says it better than a generic bunch of flowers ever could.

The collection brings together my love of character design, bright colour and humour, with each idea designed to work as part of a wider range while still having its own personality.

‍Product concepts visualised using AI, based on my original illustrations and pattern designs.

Developing the Collection

A few of these characters began life as standalone illustrations, including my coffee-drinking alien, rabbit and tattooed arm confessing my love (addition) to crisps.

They already felt as though they belonged in the same weird little world, so I developed them into a more cohesive card collection.

The alien was one of the first characters I knew had to make the cut. He’s seen some stuff, and apparently requires coffee to process it.

The Full Collection

The collection mixes cute, cheeky and slightly chaotic designs for birthdays, celebrations, encouragement and those oddly specific moments that deserve their own card.

Although every character has its own story, the bright palette, hand-drawn lines and playful humour connect the range and give it a recognisable personality.

I explored different character ideas, compositions and phrases before narrowing everything down to the designs that felt strongest together.

Some ideas evolved along the way. Alien legs were reconsidered, wording was tweaked and “lads, lads, lads” didn’t quite survive the selection process.

Love & Friendship (More coming soon!)

...and that's Character Chaos!

The collection is bold, joyful and just a little bit unhinged, combining lovable characters with messages people will want to send over a generic 'happy birthday' message.

I’d love to continue growing Character Chaos into a wider card and gift range, with plenty more strange creatures, silly situations and gloriously specific sentiments still to come for people to gift and keep.
